Growing 38 varieties of microgreens sustainabily in Detroit

Something About Us

When we’ve been at the farmers’ market in the past, we’ve occasionally been asked if we grow our microgreens in our basement, a spare bedroom or our garage. Nope! We have a 17,000 sq ft building along with 2 city lots on W. Chicago in Detroit that we utilize. We bought our building in 2017 and it had been vacant for 10 years, hit hard by scrappers, overgrown with vegetation and used as a neighborhood dumping ground. We spent two years cleaning it up and renovating it. We started growing shrimp in 2019 and pivoted into the microgreen business in 2021. We now grow 32 different varieties of microgreens indoors year-round and count restaurants, grocery stores, wholesale produce distributors, caterers, private chefs as our regular customers along with a single farmers market.
