Growing 38 varieties of microgreens sustainabily in Detroit

Just for Fun!

At Motor City Micro Farm our primary focus is growing microgreens indoors, but we also have two city lots that we grow flowers and vegetables in. For fun, we decided to seed a couple of pumpkin plants this year in our back lot. Well, they kind of took off! We now have about a dozen fairly large pumpkins for our grandkids for Halloween!
We’ve also had tons of tomatoes and Mark has been making gallons of tomato sauce and freezing it. Zucchini has been plentiful and Kelly has been making zucchini bread all summer long. She’s even offered fresh baked loaves for sale at Sunday’s Farmers’ Market. Our gardens have been plentiful!

Thinking Summer

Just got done ordering all the plants and seeds for Kelly’s 2025 flower garden down on the farm. She’ll have bouquets galore again this year at the Birmingham Farmers’ Market. Looking forward to seeing everyone again this year.
